Birthplace Coffee Co. has existed in some form since 2014. First, as an inkling of an idea that muddled around for the better part of a year and a half, and then finally in March of this year it started resembling what it is today.
It is the culmination of many sleepless nights, even more cups of coffee, (a little procrastination), slightly neglected friends, an annoyed puppy, and my hard work.
I created Birthplace Coffee Co. first and foremost as a way of putting the narrative of Ethiopian coffee back into the hands of Ethiopians. Birthplace is my way of telling you about my Ethiopia, my birthplace, our coffee. I want to increase the dialogue between farmer and roaster and brewer, and together piece together a history of Ethiopian coffee that leads to an ethical, economically inclusive, and environmental sustainability future. And I want to make you some damn good coffee on top of that.
We do that by roasting Ethiopian coffee in small batches, focusing on the quality and time, and mailing it to you, fresh every month. We also do that by partnering with some incredible organizations and donating half of our profits to support farmers and make sure their farming practices are sustainable, in every sense of the word, so that we can foster long term relationships, together.
I hope you like it.
